True Survivor 2AF

NOTE: This heavily unfinished work was a part of a collaborative effort in a now shut down website (RIP -not enough support). I truly miss and appreciate the people I've met on that site and read or collaborated with. Unfortunately for this story -(which was discontinued even before the site was closed) I can't quite remember the details or exact premise, but I do recall that it happens in a dystopian setting and there are different types of survivors (which we get to choose whether first or third person): Survivors that are suffering -and would be heavily disadvantaged -in some way; and True survivors. True survivors didn't have physical disadvantages but are pyschologically effected (*and perhaps gifted (think X-men) somehow? That's the part I can't recall) While I won't put the exact original here, I do wish to continue this (not necessarily story for story's sake but for an exercise in character growth; she won't know that she's a true survivor ...

Living The Way Forward IX To Change Your Methods...Importantly, Following Through

Those who fear getting left behind are the ones getting left behind unless they change. Fear is not only irrational, it is destructive full stop. Empathy becomes sympathy and sympathy is the enemy to change. Sympathy devolves into pity which is its own gravitational force: which specializes in only one direction, that is, the active component of bringing one [you, specifically] down.  To further clarify: Sympathy [masquerading] as empathy places others feelings on a pedestal. Empathy is flexible, but not a rope to extend yet receive back as a noose.  Sympathy as sympathy is simply feeling helpless and not attempting to help change the situation. Or, more often than not -remarking about the situation but not doing anything...

Eight Other Lives, Who's Counting?

Chapter 8: Accomplishments/Resumés and Charity Accomplishments wielded both as a sword and shield. Charity is done through pity and a sense of self-worth ego. A person who claims that they are helping others through charity while disparaging the very [laws] meant to assist those in need have no true understanding of charity [compassion]. It simply becomes a checklist of what a ‘good’ person should *do. Announcing a charitable act is at its core, self-serving, intentionality not-with-standing. They conflate responsibility; circumstance and deservability and it’s in this last notion where the judgment upon humans is pretentious egotistic and prevalent. The undertone of deservability is an unchallenged notion that needs examination since the beginning of time. Not as a philosophy but as an individual when navigating through relationships or even when encountering fellow human beings. People learn to separate and compartmentalize so much that attempting to connect anything at all dis...
